2011-2012 Syllabus

Course Objectives:

We will be covering the history of the US from Exploration through Clinton. Additionally we will develop college level skills in writing essays with document citations in preparation for the AP exam in May.

Class Policies:

1. Making up missed work and tests are the responsibility of the students. Handbook specifications apply.

2. Students must keep up with assignments using the class web page and planners.

3. Due dates are firm. Late work is half credit. Except with excused absence. In an AP class attendance is critical. Excessive absences will negatively impact student outcomes.

4. Students must bring books and supplies daily. Check for assignments and documents on our website.

5.   Extra help available by arrangement.

Procedures:

Lectures, notes, discussions, some group activities.

HW is posted to board and website.

Random 5 question quizzes. Tests at the end of each unit.
Format: People, terms to identify, essays to answer. Some M.C.

EC: outline of chapters. (optional)

Materials:

Bring book, notebook, pens (black/ blue ink) & folder for saved work daily.

Grades:

40% Classwork and Homework; 40% Tests and Quizzes; 20% Projects –

EC up to 2% (see activism/ volunteerism on website for ideas)

Rules: All Student handbook rules apply. Additionally: 1. Follow all directions the 1^st time given.** 2. Be in class on time and ready to work at the bell. 3. Be courteous & kind. 4. Passes are for emergencies only	Consequences: 1. Conference & record kept. 2. Calls home. 3. Detentions. 4. Office Referral- administration
